Happy Mother’s Day to all our moms out there!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for all you do. I always love it when the secular and the religious coincide so perfectly, and Mother’s Day is a great example. Throughout the month of May we venerate Mary mother of God in a special way and Mother’s Day, also always in May, fits right into the spirit of the celebration. Just like so many of you, Mary spends most of the time in the background, but her real dignity is seen in the relationship she has with her child. At the wedding feast of Cana, she quickly assesses the situation and directs the action, just like any good Mom would. Thanks, moms, for reigning as queens, often from the background, but reigning just the same.
In other news we congratulated our First Communicants last week and next week we will be celebrating Confirmation with Bishop Elizondo. It will take place at the 1 pm mass on Sunday, which will be bilingual that day. Seating is going to be tight so make sure you get there early if you want to get a seat.
We also heard last week that we are supposed to get a new Parochial Vicar from Nicaragua in July. It is super exciting that we will be able to have extra support for our growing Hispanic Community. Father Juan Carlos is supposed to be really capable in his English abilities as well so it should be a win for all of us. As always when a priest is coming from another country there is much involved so, please pray that Father gets here quickly and safely.
Prayers Always,
Fr. Joseph
